North Star of Chester County is honored to announce it has been awarded a generous grant of $30,000 from the Foxwynd Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to supporting housing, healthcare, and environmental sustainability initiatives nationwide. The grant significantly bolsters North Star’s efforts in the local community, providing critical support for working single parent families when they need it most.
North Star of Chester County operates a vital program for single parent families facing homelessness, providing rental assistance, budget counseling, financial guidance and mentorship. The organization’s mission is to help families avoid homelessness while empowering individuals to achieve self-sufficiency.
“Funding from the Foxwynd Foundation will directly impact vulnerable families in Chester County,” said North Star Executive Director, Donald Neimetz. “Allowing us to adapt to the evolving needs of the population we serve. The grant will also enable us to reach more families in need and provide them with the tools and resources necessary to remain stably housed and become financially independent.” The funding arrives at a critical time in Chester County, as housing prices have made it more difficult than ever for the working poor to live and thrive in the community.
According to the Chester County Partnership to End Homelessness, a Chester County family is evicted from their home every day. For 31 years, North Star has operated its homelessness prevention and self-sufficiency program for single working parents. “We are thankful the families we serve will not become part of that statistic,” said Neimetz. “Thanks to the generosity of our supporters like the Foxwynd Foundation.”
Foxwynd Foundation Executive Director, Pamela Villagra, stated, "I am thoroughly impressed by the commitment demonstrated by the participants. They have shown a willingness to disclose their personal finances and accept accountability. Moreover, their dedication to making lifestyle changes under the guidance of North Star case workers for the betterment of their families is commendable. We eagerly anticipate learning about both the challenges and successes they encounter and are honored to support them on this transformative journey."
